Knights Village Hotel at Warwick Castle

Knights Village at Warwick Castle

Knights Village at Warwick Castle was built in 1068 by William the Conqueror. From its appearance until the seventeenth century, the structure was used for its direct purpose – it was used for defensive purposes.

History

In the early 17th century, the castle gained a new owner. It was owned by Fulke Greville, an English poet and playwright. He converted the ancient castle into his own residence. Greville’s descendants owned the castle until 1978.

Then the castle was purchased by the Tussauds Group, which did their best to preserve the cultural and historical value of the building, while at the same time creating a wonderful place to stay in true English style.

Excursions for visitors

Thrill seekers won’t want to miss out on a dungeon tour. Here you can hear mystical stories about earls, witches and mysterious events that continue to take place in the castle to this day.

A landmark on the castle grounds is a unique catapult, the construction of which took more than 300 oak trees. It takes the strength of eight sturdy men to bring this thing into action. Warwick catapult is recognized as the most powerful in the world – with its help you can launch a massive projectile (up to 150 kg) at 300 meters.

Bird shows have become a good tradition. In winter, majestic eagles, owls, hawks and other winged raptors are let out of the ramparts to the delight of the public. Tourists can take advantage of all the facilities on offer, including a huge ice rink, which was built in 2007 as the largest ice rink in England.

Knightly tournaments, wonderful armour and trophy collections, a huge library, waxwork, archery and crossbow competitions, and the beautiful scenery of one of Europe’s oldest parks – these and more are open to visitors all year round.
